What is the cooperative parenting plan? The 17 th Circuit Court of Kent County has launched a program which requires all parents with children to file a parenting plan which will detail their goals for their children and parenting time schedule. It also requires the parties to a divorce and their attorneys to use non adversarial language in divorce cases. Examples are: A divorce will be called a “dissolution of marriage”; There will be no plaintiff or defendant but “mother and father”; custody will be called “parenting time”; child support will called “financial responsibility. Visitation is also called “parenting time”
The court will also require Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) before the court will be willing to hear a motion.
No motion will be heard until each party has submitted a parenting plan. Certain exceptions exist which might be abuse, neglect, or domestic violence.
