TV HOST SETTLES UNBORN CHILD SUPPORT CASE

The ever-changing child custody and child support battle between TV personality Sherri Shepherd and her ex-husband Lamar Sally continue to evolve. However, it appears that the former couple has reached an agreement that is satisfactory to both parties, for the moment. The couple has been in court off and on for several months battling over whether or not Ms. Shepherd should be considered the baby’s mother. The couple conceived the child via in vitro fertilization with a surrogate mother. While Mr. Sally provided the sperm for the baby, Ms. Shepherd did not provide the egg. Thus, Ms. Shepherd had argued that she was not the child’s mother and therefore she should not be forced to pay child support.

However, according to recent reports, despite the fact that she had claimed that Mr. Sally only wanted to have a child in order to get child support from his ex-wife, Ms. Shepherd has reportedly agreed to pay $4,100 each month in child support until the child turns 13-years-old. At that time the monthly amount will increase to $4,600. However, under the agreement, Ms. Shepherd can continue to pursue her fraud claim and if the court rules that Mr. Sally did defraud her, then she will no longer have to pay child support. Additionally, the couple has other frozen embryos that Ms. Shepherd will not have to support if Mr. Sally decides to bring them to term.
