KALAMAZOO ASSISTANT PROSECUTOR FIRED AFTER ALLEGED DUI

The Ms. Timmer was initially suspended for the alleged violation. However, the county prosecutor recently announced the decision to fire the Ms. Timmer after police says they believe she was driving while intoxicated last month. According to police reports, the woman was involved in a two-car crash that left both her and the driver of the other vehicle with serious injuries. The case has reportedly been handed over to the state Attorney General’s Office.

While there were reports that Ms. Timmer was involved in a crash there were no reports as to why officers believe she had been drinking at the time of the accident. Additionally, there were no reports as to whether or not Ms. Timmer was given any kind of field sobriety test, breath test or blood alcohol test. Likewise, the report did not state whether or not there was any alcohol found in the vehicle she was driving. In these kinds of situations, it is easy to assume that a driver has been drinking, but there are still many unanswered questions that need to be resolved before it can be determined if Ms. Timmer is actually guilty of driving under the influence.

This kind of case shows that many times, even though a person is supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty, it’s often the reverse.
